This is a Notice of Intent for Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine, to award a sole source contract to Curtiss- Wright Engineered Pump Division (EMD) for Restoring and Upgrading the Secondary Propulsion System (SPS) Rotary Deployment Mechanism (RDM) on a Virginia-class submarine. The proposed contract action is for products and services for which the Government intends to solicit only one source. This requirement is for a firm fixed contract (FFP) for Curtiss Wright EMD (CW) to accomplish refurbishment and upgrade to the SPS RDM . The Statement of Work (SOW) covers the actual repairs, to be accomplished at CW's facility, to include inspection, repair, and testing; the material is provided for on a separate contract. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. Curtiss-Wright EMD, as the OEM, owns the proprietary drawings, and is the only vendor that is authorized to accomplish the work. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
