Portsmouth Naval Shipyard intends to solicit a Firm Fixed Price contract to provide materials for the 288 parts / 3,245 items required to fulfill the complete material list replacement of identical parts of the current Emergency Diesel Engine on a Los Angeles-class Submarine. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source is capable of fulfilling this requirement. Fairbanks Morse Engine, (CAGE Code 7Q8V5). is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and thus owns the proprietary data including drawings, equipment, and approved processes – required to perform this work.
