This notice is released pursuant to FAR 15.201(e) Exchanges with Industry. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is seeking to identify sources to accomplish a firm fixed price contract for a robotic solution that is capable of carrying a variety of payloads (ship maintenance / repair tools). The proposed contract action is for products and services for which the Government intends to solicit only one source (International Climbing Machines). This requirement is to purchase five (5) Hull Crawler Robots. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. International Climbing Machines owns the proprietary equipment, proprietary drawings and is experienced in performing the appropriate procedures and services required. International Climbing Machines, is the only vendor that has manufactured this particular type of robot and has proven capable of accomplishing the required procedures. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This sources sought notice is a market research tool being utilized to identify potential and eligible firms capable of providing these supplies prior to determining the method of acquisition and issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP).
