Next Generation Tactical Radio (NGTR)
NAVAIR PMA-209 is conducting market research for the Next Generation Tactical Radio (NGTR), a modular software-defined radio for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aircraft that supports VHF/UHF voice and data waveforms up to 6 GHz and is backward-compatible with ARC-210 Gen 5/6 radios. The NGTR must include a modular High Assurance Device meeting NSA cryptographic/SERD requirements, Zero Trust/RMF security, open modular architecture, and minimal aircraft integration impact. The RFI seeks firms of all sizes to identify eligible sources and possible small-business set-aside opportunities while gathering industry feedback on requirements, risks, timeline realism, cryptographic integration, and DMSMS/obsolescence strategies. Anticipated program milestones include Industry Day in Q1 FY27, draft RFP in Q3 FY27, final RFP in Q4 FY27, award in Q2 FY28, and production-ready fleet delivery by mid-2034; contractors would also need Top Secret clearance capability within 12 months of contract award. Primary performance will be at the contractor facility, with support as needed at government test sites and government facilities for meetings with NAVAIR and NSA.
