NAVAIR intends to award a sole-source contract to Custom Biometric Wearables, Inc. for the digital scanning and manufacturing of custom ear molds to support advanced hearing protection for Naval Aviation personnel at NAS Patuxent River, MD. The requirement is based on a validated study showing digital scanning provides superior accuracy and performance, and the company is the OEM of the proprietary eFit scanner, which is the only system capable of meeting the Navy's stringent precision requirements. The contractor must also possess the in-house capability to produce up to 2,000 custom hearing protection devices within 60 days of receiving scan data.
