The Government requires source approval prior to contract award for this flight-critical item, as available technical data does not support full and open competition. The requirement is for 10 units delivered FOB origin, and only previously approved sources have been solicited. New sources must submit the information specified in the applicable NAVSUP WSS Source Approval Information Brochure (Spares or Repair) with their proposal, and if a source approval request is already under evaluation, include a copy of the forwarding cover letter. Offers that fail to provide all required source approval data will not be considered for award. Because the source approval timeline normally cannot delay award, the Government may proceed based on Fleet support needs if approval cannot be completed in time.
