The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one approved source for 47 each of a flight-critical part that requires engineering source approval by the design control activity. Only previously approved sources have been solicited; new sources must qualify under the design control activity’s procedures and submit required source approval information with their offers. The approved source(s) retain essential data rights, manufacturing/repair knowledge, or technical data not economically available to the Government. Delivery is FOB origin, and the item is not being acquired under FAR Part 12 commercial-item policies. If source approval cannot be completed in time, award may proceed based on Fleet support needs.
