8(a) Sole Source (FAR 19.8)

This is a modification to an existing five-year agreement to add repair services for two specific items. The work is restricted to government-approved sources due to the flight-critical nature of the items and insufficient technical data for open competition. Unapproved sources must submit a detailed technical data package with their proposal, as outlined in a specific brochure, to be considered. The government notes that the source approval process is lengthy and that awards cannot be delayed to wait for a new source to be approved. If an approval request cannot be processed in time, the award may proceed to meet urgent Fleet support needs.
