Scope. NUWC Keyport C/22 has a requirement to operate, maintain, and manage a pressure vessel system that consists of storage tanks, piping, 40 hp motor, large volume pump (10LM12 mix flow), multi-stage centrifugal pump, drive shaft, gate valves, butterfly valves, strainer, water softener, sand filter, pressure vessel, and a control station interface. Recently, the shaft that connects the motor to the large volume pump is showing signs there is extreme wear in the system and potential imminent failure. To allow for continued use of facilities capabilities, repair and replacement in the “Motor-Drive shaft-Pump” subassembly are required to bring the system into top mechanical condition. The system must be refurbished to bring it back to original performance. If any new components are added, they must be documented with a minimum of three (3) hard copies of user/maintenance documents as well as a soft copy in PDF format. 2. Applicable documents 2.1 Verti-Line Mixed Flow Pump Technical Manual if necessary. 3. Requirements 3.1 The contractor shall: 3.1.1 Remove Aurora 10LM12 Pump/motor assembly. 3.1.2 Transport pump and motor to a repair shop (if required) 3.1.3 Rebuild the pump. 3.1.3.1 Replace bowl shaft 3.1.3.2 Replace line shaft 3.1.3.3 Replace couplings (if applicable) 3.1.3.4 Replace bearings 3.1.3.5 Rebuild mechanical seal 3.1.3.6 Balance impeller 3.1.3.7 Reassemble and paint 3.1.4 Refurbish motor 3.1.4.1 Test run and inspect motor 3.1.4.2 Megger –open stator –open rotor and surge comparison check windings (before and after cleaning) 3.1.4.3 Micrometer check bearings and seal lift –check shaft for straightness 3.1.4.4 Quote any additional parts or repairs. No additional repairs done without prior approval. 3.1.4.5 Clean Varnish, treat and bake windings 3.1.4.6 Balance rotor and bearing carrier/fan 3.1.4.7 Furnish and install bearings 3.1.4.8 Assemble, test-trim balance and VA motor N0025320Q0249 Page 4 of 48 3.1.4.9 Paint 3.1.5 Assess the drive shaft and fix or replace if necessary 3.1.6 Transport pump and motor back to NUWC Keyport 3.1.7 Reinstall Aurora 10LM12 Pump/motor assembly 3.1.8 Witness operational test the system by the operators to ensure proper operation 3.2 The contractor shall perform the required service and return the system to NUWC, Keyport within 3 week ADC. 3.3 The contractor shall provide three (3) copies of all user/service documents for any new equipment (if any) used to replace any piece of the existing system. 3.4 The contractor shall provide a maintenance plan for the system (if different from original). 3.5 In addition to the above, the contractor shall be able to lockout/tagout the motor/pump assembly.
