The USS AMERICA (LHA-6) AIMD requires refurbishment of 23 material handling equipment assets that are non-operational or unable to hold current weight-handling certification due to sustained use, shipboard environmental exposure, and deferred depot-level maintenance. Ship’s force can operate the equipment but is not trained or certified to perform depot-level overhaul, load testing, or weight-handling certification.
