Flag cases are sent to surviving family members of deceased military service member’s as directed by Combined Joint Mortuary Affairs Board (CJMAB) and is within the current revision of DoDINST 1300.ii. Although flag cases are not specifically mandated by Title 10, USC 1482, it is in the best interest of the United States Navy to continue this entitlement as a memento of the fallen service member’s service and sacrifice to the families.
