This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, intends to procure on a sole source basis from BAE Systems Land & Armaments, LP., 4800 E River Rd. Minneapolis, MN 55421-1402 an order under Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) N00178-16-G-2005 to provide an updated version of the MK 38 MOD 3 Gun Weapon System (GWS) with the capability to defeat Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Under this Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) N00178-16-G-2005 Delivery Order N00178-18-F-G301 is to design and produce four (4) prototype MK 38 MOD 3 C-UAS Kits for delivery to the Government, and conduct/support performance testing of the kits at the Contractor's facility and United States Navy (USN) facilities such as the Potomac River Test Range at NSWC Dahlgren, Patuxent River MD Naval Air Warfare Center, Chesapeake Test Range (CTR), VACAPES OPAREA, or the Electro-Optical Range at NSWC Crane. A redacted Justification for Approval for use of other than full and open competition will be posted on the FBO website 14 days after award in accordance with FAR 16.505(b)(2)(ii)(D). This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. No Request for Proposal (RFP) will be available for competitive proposals. However responsible and interested parties may submit a proposal which identifies their interest and capability. A determination not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. The Government will not pay for any information received.
