The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Expeditionary Program Office (ExPO), in partnership with the NSWC Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) D Department is tasked with informing the requirements and procurement strategy for a portable additive manufacturing system to support the Navy Expeditionary Combat Enterprise efforts in expeditionary part fabrication. The Government is investigating the feasibility of utilizing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and/or government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) additive manufacturing technologies in expeditionary operating environments to produce functional parts and training aids. This RFI will assist the Navy in developing the design and capability requirements of a portable additive manufacturing system for the Navy Expeditionary Combat Force (NECF). Specifically, this RFI seeks information from industry and government on solutions to support the use of additive manufacturing in Navy expeditionary operations.
