The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory intends to award a sole source contract to Teledyne FLIR Commercial Systems Inc. for Mid-Wave and Long-Wave Infrared scientific-grade cameras and accessories, stating that only Teledyne can meet its highly specific technical requirements. The procurement includes high-speed, high-resolution, and "value" cameras in both MWIR and LWIR versions, along with lenses, calibrations, filters, interface hardware, and software licenses. No solicitation package will be posted, but responsible vendors who believe they can meet the specifications may submit a capability statement for consideration. One specified cost requirement is that the value LWIR camera option must cost less than $50,000. All cameras must meet detailed performance specs, including specific spectral ranges, frame rates, resolutions, GigE interfaces, and operating temperatures up to 40°C.
