Requirement: The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC has a requirement for the procurement of a commercially available High-Resolution Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS) System. The LC-MS system will support a wide variety of research programs. It will provide molecular identification and characterization of novel materials developed at NRL (e.g. coatings, polymers, reagents and reaction intermediates), provide detailed compositional analysis of biological materials (e.g. proteomic analysis of microbiota, invertebrate tissue samples, and synthetic analogs), and other complex chemical mixtures, such as vaporous chemical signatures, environmental samples, military transportation fuels, and high molecular weight gums. The system will support mass defect filter analysis for compositional profiling of highly complex chemical mixtures such as in "petroleomic" analysis of petroleum distillate fuels.
