The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division has developed an 18-foot diameter propeller intended to improve fuel efficiency for DDG 51 Class ships. The propeller uses multiple blades mounted to an existing DDG hub. Implementation requires validation that the existing hub is compatible with the new propeller's loads. The effort also includes a requested cost and schedule estimate for drawing, engineering support, and manufacture of a ship-set of blades. This contract will be awarded on a sole source basis.
