General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. (GDEB), Groton, Connecticut, was awarded a cost plus fixed fee contract to provide United States Trident II Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Ship Alterations and United Kingdom SWS Ship Alterations for Strategic Systems Program (SSP) Shipboard Integration installations, with an expected completion date of April 30, 2024. The maximum dollar value, including the base period and two option years, is $60,594,296. This contract was a sole-source acquisition in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and (4). SSP’s requirements for the effort are available from only one responsible source, General Dynamics Electric Boat. GDEB was designated as the SSBN and SSGN Ship Design Agent (SDA) by the Department of the Navy. The proposed procurement provides for continued technical support for ship systems and subsystems supporting SSBN and SSGN weapon systems. Because of its decades of experience and established knowledge base as the SDA, GDEB is the only source capable of conducting investigations and resolution of problems associated with shipboard Trident II Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile programs. Additionally, as the SDA, GDEB is the only source that possesses the detailed platform integration and design knowledge of the submarine ship design. No other contractor will satisfy Strategic Systems Programs requirements in accordance with FAR 6.302.1 and l0 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and (4).
