The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to solicit and award a sole source contract to Huntington Ingalls Incorporated - Newport News Shipbuilding, 4101 Washington Ave, Newport News, VA 23607. The contract will be for engineering and technical design tasks in support of Research and Development (R&D) of advanced submarine technologies for current and future submarine platforms projects. The contract will also contain an ordering provision for material, prototype hardware, and minor R&D projects. The contemplated contract will be awarded pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-3 (a)(2)(i). A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. The Government does not commit to providing a response to any comment or questions. No basis for a claim against the Government shall arise as a result of this announcement.
