The Navy intends to award a sole-source contract to Huntington Ingalls Industries-Ingalls Shipbuilding for the construction and delivery of the first two FF(X)-class frigates. The work includes all necessary efforts from pre-construction planning through sea trials and systems integration. The sole-source justification is based on the unique and highly specialized capabilities possessed only by Ingalls Shipbuilding. The performance location is the Ingalls Shipbuilding shipyard. All responsible sources may still submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation for the agency's consideration.
