The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to award preliminary design efforts and additional studies to General Dynamics – National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, 2798 East Harbor Drive San Diego, CA 92113 (CAGE CODE 81220), to support the AS(X) next generation design development. The estimated value for this action is up to $100M including firm fixed price and cost type CLINs. The contemplated efforts will be awarded pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). NASSCO possesses the critical capability and experience in design and construction using commercially based practices common for auxiliary, sealift, fleet support, combat logistics, and special mission ships for the U.S. Navy. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one responsible source under authority of FAR 6.302.
