The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate and award two sole source, firm fixed priced contracts in support of the ALE-47 system to BAE Systems Electronic Systems, Austin TX. The first contract will be to perform a life of type buy for Power PC G2 microprocessors, P/N: MPC8260ACZUMHBB. The second contract is to purchase Power PC Circuit Card Assemblies and related hardware. These efforts are being awarded on a sole source basis to BAE Systems in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 because BAE the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the equipment addressed in this synopsis and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. In addition, the Government lacks the drawings and technical data to permit a competitive procurement. This synopsis is for informational purposes only. There is no commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation, make an award, or be responsible for any money expended by the interested parties before award of a contract for the effort described above; information herein is subject to change, and in no way binds the Government to solicit for or award a contract. BAE Systems, Information and Electronic Systems is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the ALE-47 System and is the only firm that can provide these supplies within the required timeframe. THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented in FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, the Government will consider all responses received to this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. No solicitation will be available for this procurement.
