The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue a fixed-price, sole source contract to General Dynamics-Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Inc. for up to a maximum of eighty-six (86) M61A2 20mm Gun Systems in support of Fiscal Years 2020 through 2023 (FY20-23) F/A-18E/F aircraft production requirements. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 USC 2304 (C) (1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." General Dynamics-Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Inc., is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for this procurement and is the only qualified manufacturer with an active production line to perform this effort in the time required to meet U.S. Navy fleet requirements. General Dynamics-Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Inc. is the only qualified manufacturer possessing the required technical knowledge and facilities, including machining, forging, molds, tooling and special test equipment, to perform the functions required to meet the current and emergent fleet needs.
