The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to award a sole-source contract to BAE Systems, Information and Electronic Systems (BAE), Greenlawn NY, for a technical refresh of the AN/APX-123A(V) Common Transponder (CXP) assemblies to resolve parts obsolescence and implement solutions to achieve compliance with the latest specifications, qualification, and certification standards. The tech refresh shall include a new software and firmware build. The Contractor shall build six prototype system sets. BAE, as the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the AN/APX-123A(V), is the only firm with the unique knowledge, experience, facilities, manufacturing techniques, and technical data required to perform these requirements in the required timeframe without substantial duplication of cost. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the provisions of FAR 6.302-1, “Only One Responsible Source”.
