The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) at Patuxent River, MD announces its intention to procure the Non-Recurring Engineering necessary to modify/redesign the F/A-18E/F Infrared Search and Track (IRST) Block II Integrated Detector Assembly (IDA). The Block II IDA obsolescence redesign, when integrated into the Block II IR Receiver, shall be designed such that the Block II IRST System continues to meet the requirements specified in the IRST Performance Specification. The contract type is anticipated to be Firm Fixed Price (FFP). The anticipated period of performance is for twenty-four months starting in FY 2022. Requirements include familiarity with the design, configuration and integration of F/A-18 IRST Infrared Receiver. Manufacturing knowledge, experience, and technical data are required to fulfill this procurement within the time required. The Government did not procure the technical data for the F/A-18E/F IRST Infrared Receiver, so any interested business would have to negotiate for access to and use of that data from The Boeing Company and Lockheed Martin Corporation, in order to fulfill the potential requirement in the time required. The effort in this procurement will satisfy the Government’s minimum need. THIS SOURCES SOUGHT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. It is a market research tool being used to determine potential and eligible small business firms capable of providing the services described herein prior to determining the method of acquisition and issuance of a Request for Proposal. The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) at Patuxent River, MD announces its intention to procure Non-Recurring Engineering required for the Redesign of the F/A-18E/F IRST Block II Integrated Detector Assembly. The offeror will be required to redesignand develop the F/A-18 IRST, Block II, Block II Integrated Detector Assembly (IDA). The anticipated period of performance is 16 months. Requirements include familiarity with the design, configuration and integration of F/A-18 aircraft. Manufacturing knowledge, experience, and technical data are required to fulfill this procurement within the time required. The Government did not procure the technical data for the F/A-18 aircraft, so any interested business would have to negotiate for access to and use of that data from the original supplier, The Boeing Company, in order to fulfill the potential requirement in the time required.
