The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Patuxent River, MD anticipates issuing an order for the procurement of Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) necessary to redesign the landing gear skid tube which supports the AH-1Z and UH-1Y aircraft. This effort includes updating the UH-1Y production drawings. A cost plus fixed fee price order under a Basic Ordering Agreement is being contemplated, which will be funded with FY19 funds. This action will be negotiated and awarded on a sole source basis with Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. (BHTI), Fort Worth, Texas, in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 "Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements". BHTI is the only qualified source which possesses the detailed knowledge of the H-1 aircraft and components to redesign the landing gear skid tube in a timely and cost effective manner.
