The modification does not extend the current ordering period, which concludes on 5 November 2029, and is needed to avoid a 12-18 month procurement delay and $2.85 million in duplicated costs. Performance will continue under the existing contracts, with services performed across the MCICOM enterprise, including in Arlington, VA. The three incumbent contractors are deemed the only sources capable of immediately absorbing this surge without unacceptable delays.
