Description of Need: The Machine Shop at the Amphibious Vehicle Test Branch requires a fiber laser cutting machine to replace the existing Flow Waterjet Mach 2 2031B that is at end of life prior to it failing completely and impacting our mission. The intent of this procurement is to replace the large footprint of the existing waterjet cutter with a smaller enclosed waterjet cutter and an additional fiber laser cutting machine. The combined procurements (smaller waterjet with a fiber laser cutter) will maintain the current mission essential capabilities of the older equipment and add new capabilities that we currently do not have. The capabilities of these machines provide is imperative to supporting our mission and supporting our customers.Minimum Specifications of Laser Cutter:- Cutting area no less than 50 inches by 50 inches. Anything under that won?t meet our requirement for cutting. Larger and rectangular cutting area is preferred.- Fiber Power must be no less than 3kW minimum and no more than 6kW maximum.- Must be fully enclosed.- Must be self-contained in an all-in-one system, with the controls and cutting table all in one device.- Utilize the existing building infrastructure.o Must be able to use existing power (480v) already present in the Machine Shop.o Minor modification for extending a power line or adding a switch to be performed by the vendor.o A stepdown transformer, based on 480v three phase, shall be included and installed with the Laser Cutter.o Available floor space for installation is 18 feet x 12 feet.
