The Program Manager Infantry Combat Equipment (PM ICE), Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), seeks industry input to identify potential sources for capabilities for a High Altitude High Opening Parachutist Navigation System (HAHO PNS). Marine Reconnaissance Units currently possess little more than dead reckoning capabilities for in-air navigation while under canopy. Current chest-mounted navigation boards (comprising an analog compass and commercial global positioning system (GPS) unit) are bulky, inaccurate and interfere with the parachutist's situational awareness. In order to safely and successfully conduct parachute insertions with an increased operating range of 25 kilometers or ? 15.53 miles, the Marine Corps parachutist requires an enhanced in-air navigation capability that is unobtrusive and allows the operator to accurately navigate to intended landing zones.
