The MCIPAC - RCO is contemplating a solicitation for equipment, and some associated services, for a Cook Chill facility being built on Okinawa, Japan. Due to an agreement between the United States Government (USG) and the Government of Japan (GOJ), installation of equipment associated with this requirement must be conducted by the GOJ. However, the USG will still require the contractor to provide installation supervision, training, and commissioning services for specific equipment. Cook Chill is a comprehensive system of food preparation, packaging, chilling, storage and distribution. It works by cooking food to a “just done” state, then chilling it quickly (down to 3 degrees Celsius in under 90 minutes) and storing it under tightly controlled temperature conditions. This capability enables the military to support multiple bases from one central food preparation plant.
