USMC National Museum Sherman Tank Transportation & Salvage UPDATED 21 MAY 2026
The National Museum of the Marine Corps requires services for the salvage, recovery, and transportation of one M4A3 Sherman tank from Marine Corps Base Twentynine Palms, California, and the salvage of usable parts from a second tank hull at the same location. The recovered tank and parts must be transported to the Museum Support Facility in Dumfries, Virginia. The contractor is responsible for providing blocking, bracing, securement, a crane for unloading at the destination, and must tarp the tank and cover all hatches during transport. The tank is structurally intact with surface corrosion only, and UXO risk has been mitigated, though lead paint is present. Responses to this Request for Information are due by 11:00 AM EST on 28 May 2026.
