Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island has a Mascot Program per DepO 10570.4B and the Headquarters and Service Battalion (HQSVC BN) Commanding Officer is responsible for maintaining the program. Upon a Mascots retirement, a new dog will need to be obtained through certified and registered breeders. The puppy should be female that is white with brown spots and between the age of 8 to 11 weeks old. The Depot Mascot will be employed during parades, ceremonies, and other appropriate occasions to enhance morale across the Tri-Command, ultimately supporting recruiting and community relations. The Depot Mascot will play a significant ceremonial role and serve to enhance the traditions and esprit of the Marine Corps. The Depot Mascot will participate in the Depot Colors Ceremony and the Recruit Graduation, plus other events as directed.
