Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI) self-assessment tools help students understand themselves and others about why they behave in certain ways. The results allow students to understand how to minimize conflict and maximize effectiveness. SDI consists of four main premises: 1) Behavior is driven by motives, 2) Motives change in conflict, 3) Strengths can be overdone, 4) Filters influence perception. These premises aid the Army in promoting effective communication, comprehension, collaboration, conflict mitigation, and team centered mission focus. The SDI assessment tools directly contibute to the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC)'s Accreditation of Training Operations Management Activity (TOMA)-validated Programs of Instruction (POIs).
