The Department of the Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest, is considering leasing a minimum 23,000 Square Feet (SF) to 74,000 SF commercial childcare space (Facility) located in or within a reasonable distance to service the City of Coronado, California, under the process and terms outlined in the Request for Proposals. Navy Child and Youth Programs (CYP) provide affordable, quality child and youth development and school transition programs to ensure military families’ readiness requirements are met, enabling warfighter lethality. Specifically, across the state of California, there is a greater than 700,000 space shortage and a Navy waiting list of over 2,000 within San Diego County, of which over 500 children are associated with Navy personnel assigned to installations in Coronado, California. These shortages are primarily associated with infrastructure/capacity shortages. Navy CYP seeks potential commercial lease alternatives for a facility that could better meet Navy’s childcare demand.
