The Joint Acquisition Task Force (JATF) has identified a novel technology for unhindered radio frequency communications developed by Sonitus Technologies, Inc. The JATF intends to procure these products on a sole-source basis in order to evaluate potential military utility for Special Operations Forces' Operators. A limited batch of five (5) units or less will be procured to adequately asses this platform in a relevant operational environment. No other commercial technologies exist that offer a wireless telecommunications platform delivered through hardware conformed to the user's molar imprint. A presolicitation notice was or will be publicized as required by FAR 5.2. If a notice will not be or was not publicized, the exception cited under FAR 5.202(a)(1) through (13) was: FAR 5.202(a)(13) As this procurement will be for evaluation purposes only, the Government will assess a competitive acquisition strategy if the limited batch is favorably evaluated and future quantities are needed.Since this purchase is to procure commercial items only, there are no subcontract opportunities available for small businesses. Additionally, Sonitus is a registered small business under NAICS 334220.
