Individual Water Treatment Device (IWTD) for Reduction/Removal of Toxic Industrial Chemicals and Materials

Notice ID:IWTD_Reduction_TICs_TIMs

The U.S. Army DEVCOM Soldier Center, with PdM SCIE, is conducting a market investigation to identify suppliers and technologies for individual Soldier water purification that reduce or remove Toxic Industrial Chemicals and Toxic Industrial Materials from indigenous fresh water. Solutions must meet Buy American Act requirements and be integrable with current/future equipment such as the Individual Water Treatment Device and MOLLE Hydration System, with information used for planning military water purification needs; this is not an RFP and creates no Government commitment. Key performance targets include DHA-mandated TIC/TIM removal, compatibility with military canteens and hydration systems, weight not exceeding 12 oz, compact low bulk, at least 135 liters of operational life, 5-year shelf life with 18-month unused service life, and functionality from -33°C to 52°C including freezing and thawing. Performance goals include treat-to-drink ideally under 5 minutes with a target under 20 minutes, flow rate not less than 200 mL/min if applicable, palatable water similar to bottled water, ease of use with or without gloves, commercially available batteries if powered, and optional NSF Protocol P248.01 microbiological mitigation. Interested parties may submit product/technology descriptions, technical literature, test data, patents, illustrations, firm experience/personnel/facilities, product cost information, company size and socioeconomic status, CAGE code, NAICS code, GSA Federal Supply Schedule number if applicable, relevant microbiological or chemical reduction data, and optional physical samples via email to the listed POCs.
