This notice announces the intent by the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) in support of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES), located at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to procure Two Hamilton Microlab STAR Vantage 2.0 workstation without competition as prescribed in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.501(a)(1)(ii), sole source (including brand name) under the authority of the simplified procedures for certain commercial items. Specifically, the Government will procure Two Hamilton Microlab STAR Vantage 2.0 workstation manufactured by Hamilton Company. The Hamilton Microlab STAR Vantage 2.0 are replacing the Hamilton STAR Plus workstations, which is a fully validated robotic workstation for the extraction of Military and Family Reference samples, short tandem repeat amplification set-up and next generation whole mtDNA genome family reference sample methods used at AFMES-DNAops to meet mission obligations. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 325414 and FSC 8733. This Special Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government.
