DCSA has a requirement for continued licensing, maintenance and support of existing proprietary IBM IPLA/MLC and SoftwareXcel Enterprise Edition software, which requires the purchase of the IBM software license and maintenance support on a limited source basis from IBM the manufacturer. The IPLA and MLC software together make up the IBM z/OS system software necessary to run the operating system/mainframes, infrastructure software (standard suite of software to operate the processors) and customer chosen application software for mainframe platforms in the BIES mainframe environment. Software maintenance includes rights to new releases and/or versions, the publishing of bug/defect fixes via patches, updates/upgrades in function, technology to maintain the operability and usability of the software product, pertinent documentation, and voice telephone support. SoftwareXcel enterprise edition enhances the IBM z/OS by providing electronic usage support (Q&A), Alert, Resolve, remote screen viewing, monthly management reports, and premium response for defect problem reporting.
