DFAS I&T Infrastructure & Production Support require the maintenance renewal for F5 BigIP devices that are utilized on the DFAS Enterprise Local Area Network (ELAN) for local and global load balancing. The F5 BIG-IPĀ® Local Traffic Manager performs load balancing across servers in a single data center and uses topology-based load balancing to inspect a user's IP and determine the most efficient data center. When file protocol requests are distributed across file-servers load balancing overcomes the capacity, bandwidth, or CPU limitations of any single system. The term load-balancing refers to distributing incoming Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests across Web servers in a server farm, to avoid overloading any one server. Because load balancing distributes the requests based on the actual load at each server, it is excellent for ensuring availability of service and defending against denial of service attacks. This maintenance will provide technical and network support, access to Ask F5 support and answers, all software updates and new version releases, dispatch of replacement hardware, Tech News communication with email updates and technical advisories on F5 products. The period of performance for this requirement is from 5/25/22 - 5/24/23.
