IAW FAR 16.505(b) (2)(i)(C) The order must be issued on a sole-source basis in the interest of economy and efficiency because it is a logical follow-on to an order already issued under the contract, provided that all awardees were given a fair opportunity to be considered for the original order. For the purposes of this requirement, the procurement is being limited to Quantum which will support the currently installed Quantum appliances. The maintenance must be provided by the original equipment manufacturer or an authorized reseller. The purchase of the Quantum Scalar i6000 tape library upgrades began in FY13 which consolidated two Scalar 50s into the same system reducing associated annual maintenance costs.
