Laboratory Support Services
DPAA conducts global research, investigation, recovery, and laboratory operations to identify unaccounted-for DoD personnel from past conflicts; it was established on January 30, 2015, though predecessor organizations supported the mission for decades. Its satellite laboratory at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, opened in June 2013, and in 2003 the DPAA laboratory became the second federal laboratory accredited under ASCLD/LAB International Standards. Permanent detachments support host-nation access, logistics, and in-country requirements in Bangkok, Thailand; Hanoi, Vietnam; Vientiane, Laos; and Miesau, Germany, while regional directorates conduct worldwide field investigations and recovery operations. The contract supports DPAA laboratory and regional-directorate requirements to advance accounting for as many missing service members as feasible, with a planning objective to maintain capacity and capability to account for 200 or more individuals annually.
