The DPAA requires a contractor to procure and deliver Norbit Multibeam Echo Equipment and Accessories to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The multibeam sonar system will enhance DPAA’s ability to detect and map seafloor objects related to possible loss incident material. It provides sub-centimeter bathymetric data to expedite identification and initial interpretation, improving efficiency of ground-truthing investigations involving ROVs and/or divers. The detailed seafloor data also supports safer and more accurate dive operation planning. This brand-name equipment combines data collection that previously required two separate devices, increasing operational efficiency, and a brand name justification is attached.
