The High Altitude and Exo Atmospheric Nuclear Effects (Hi-Ex) program supports Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) objectives to increase the understanding of natural and anthropogenic space weather and quantifying the operationally relevant effects on DoD, USG, and commercial space systems. The contractor is responsible for developing new multi-physics, multi-scale, multi-domain, and multi-regime models for predicting near space and exo-atmospheric nuclear explosion phenomenology along with natural space environments and to prepare these applications for integration into the enhanced Nuclear Weapons Environment Database System (eNWEDS) or Nuclear Capabilities Services (NuCS) modeling and simulation (M&S) framework. This non-competitve task order extension is to continue the work described in the preceding paragraph above for an additonal 20 month period.
