The requested laptops are Dell Mobile Precision 7740 laptops or equivalent. These laptops, in the specified configuration, have the capability to support Cyber, CIAV and Bold Quest project activities, which all requiring high-end graphics, CPU and RAM capabilities. These will replace existing desktop workstations under the organization’s LCM (life-cycle management) replacement program. The specifications of these laptops will satisfy C5AD requirements in supporting ongoing projects. Existing C5AD laptops and workstations no longer satisfy the recommended configuration, are beyond their usable life and are no longer under warranty support. These laptops are required must be compatible with the current Dell docking stations that will work with Dell only laptops. Also, the operating system images are built for Dell hardware so any other brand of laptop would not function and it would take considerable time in getting the operating images to work with a different vendor’s hardware.
