C5AD has a requirement to maintain compliance with the updates and technical advances to the National Security Agency's (NSA) Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) security solution as published in their Capability Packages. They must also meet the additional requirements for 4G/LTE cellular capability. The current tailored C5AD SMART Gateway design is out-of-date and requires updating and adding a 4G/LTE capability. Currently, the C5AD Command and Control Integration (C2I) Lab is performing a technical assessment of new virtual routing technologies to determine if they enhance the ability of warfighters to support Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) operations. To do so, the C2I lab relies on the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) CSfC virtual services and support kit to host new technologies. All hardware, software, and applications must conform to the security requirements specified in the National Security Agency’s CSfC Capability Packages (CP). The C5AD SMART Gateway is a tailored WLAN CSfC virtual services and support kit that meets all NSA security requirements and enables the security solution for multiple networks in the Command and Control Integration Lab and Special Operations Forces Lab (SOF Lab) (Enclaves 2-1 and 2-3). The kit virtualizes the services, applications, network routing and switching, security monitoring, and other requirements specified in the CSfC CP. Since purchasing the kit, the tailored security solution was updated and revised by the National Security Agency, so the kit requires implementation and integration of the new security solution so that it complies with the current CP. In addition to the implementation and integration services. C5AD already owns the SMART gateway. Buying a new one would be over $150,000, and will still require additional implantation and integration services. Oceus Networks, Inc. has proprietary ownership for tailored implementation and integration, as well as the cellular solution. No other vendor can build the tailored version of the C5AD SMART Gateway.
