The objective of this effort seeks rapidly mature, thoroughly test, and accurately characterize emerging candidate space-based alternative PNT systems developed and/or operated by commercial concerns. Systems providing only timing but not positioning or navigation (i.e., T, but not PN) services are also of interest. Solutions of at least Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 are sought, with a desire to reach at least TRL 5 by the completion of the proposed effort. Technologies should target 50 m absolute positioning accuracy or 1 ?s of timing accuracy (relative to UTC), or better, for terrestrial users under nominal conditions. Technologies that are not designed to deliver service from space are explicitly out of scope. However, proposed efforts using systems already on-orbit, systems partially on-orbit, systems reaching orbit within the period of performance, and/or proxy on-orbit assets will be considered. Systems able to demonstrate performance using only terrestrial test assets may be considered if the real-world applicability of the proposed testing is well justified.
