The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Directed Energy Directorate is issuing this pre-solicitation synopsis for the purposes of initiating dialogue with industry partners regarding the upcoming Brighter Sodium Beacon acquisition. The Government intends on utilizing the Other Transaction for Prototype authority (10 USC 2371b) to fulfill this requirement. The envisioned effort consists of two prototype projects. The first (Risk Reduction) will solidify the sodium beacon laser's technical requirements by developing a 100 W Raman Fiber Amplifier (RFA) prototype and by researching frequency chirping. The second project will develop the brighter Sodium Beacon Laser prototype.
