Aviation Safety Investigations and Reports, AFMAN 91-223, designates the Air Force Safety Center (AFSEC) Mishap Analysis & Animation Facility (MAAF) as the central Air Force activity responsible for investigating and reporting aircraft mishaps. A critical aspect of mishap investigations is extraction, transcription, and analysis of mission critical data from a flight data recorder (FDR), cockpit voice recorder (CVR), radar, telemetry, and other sources. At the conclusion of this contract, the MAAF will have a modern and comprehensive capability for extracting data from all models of the SRVIVR® recorder, in addition to the existing F-22/F-15/F-35 capability.
