All requirements identified in this RFI are tentative and will be finalized prior to the release of any solicitation. The Government does not intend to award a contract or purchase order in response to this RFI or otherwise pay for the information submitted. The information provided is entirely voluntary and will not impact the ability to bid on future requirements. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be considered a request for proposal (RFP), request for quote (RFQ), or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. The information provided may be utilized by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in developing its acquisition strategy should a decision be made to proceed with acquiring the items/services listed in this RFI. The information received in response to this RFI may be included in one or more future solicitations. The results of this RFI will assist in making the determination of whether or not this acquisition will be full and open or set aside for small business competition. All responses shall include the following information: 1. Company Name 2. Business Size for subject NAICS 3. Cage Code 4. Details on which line items your company is able to provide and any applicable restrictions AFRL is seeking U.S. sources with the capability to provide the items/services listed in this RFI. All responses to this RFI must be received NO LATER THAN Friday, February 28, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. PST. *****Requirements for the Robotic Arms ***** The Produce On-Demand (POD) research group within AFRL/RQRP at Edwards AFB, CA requires the acquisition of five robotic arms of equivalent characteristics. Robotic arms can be programmed using G code or another numerical control programming language, to perform controlled and repeatable movements. Robotic arms are typically used in automation applications, especially in the manufacturing industry. Robotic arms provide human-like dexterity in a multitude of environments and able to grip a variety of tools using gripping features. ***** Robotic Arms must meet the following additional requirements***** 1) 35 pound payload capacity 2) 3 feet of reach 3) programmable using G code or other numerical control programming language 4) Capability for robot to emergency stop if it detects a threshold programmed level of power/force for equipment preservation during concurrent robotic arm operations and to protect humans in a combined human/robot production environment 5) Precision and repeatability in movements of 0.002 inches or lower
