This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation (paper copy) will not be issued. The NAICS code is 337127 and small business size standard is 500 employees. The contractor shall provide all items identified in the List of Required Items (Attachment 1) on a firm fixed price basis including the cost of shipping FOB Destination. Used, pre-owned, refurbished, or remanufactured goods will not be accepted. Items must be factory new. Offerors shall provide at least the same warranty terms, including offers of extended warranties, offered to the general public in customary commercial practice. The anticipated delivery date is 8 weeks After Receipt of Order (ARO). All deliveries shall be made in accordance with FAR 52.247-34 FOB Destination. The place of delivery, acceptance and FOB destination point is Rome, NY 13441. The provision at 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors - Commercial Items applies to this acquisition. This notice is for information only; a solicitation will not be issued. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 337127 with a size standard of 500 employees. The Government requires the procurement of a custom optics table system to be used in ion trapping experiments. This equipment will be paired with equipment already owned by the Agency. Item 0002 P/N: S-2000A-816 •· Set of eight (8) 16 in. tall standard isolators with automatic leveling. The Government intends to negotiate a sole-source contract for the purchase of the items described above with: Newport Corporation, 1791 Deere Avenue, Irvine, CA 92606. The Government has determined that no other source can meet this requirement. In order to be compatible with the current existing experimental design, each of the matching set of two optical tables must be 10 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 18 inches thick. In addition, the optics tables must be capable of being rigidly attached to form a large, reverse "L" shape. The optics table holes must be tapped 1/4-20 holes in a regular 1 inch pattern. As the optical table system will be used in interferometric applications, the compliance of the tables must be relatively free from resonances. In the audio band (100 Hz to 1 kHz), the compliance of the table should not increase by more than 2x for any compliance above 1 x 10^-6 in/lb as the frequency is swept across the audio band. Newport is the only known company that provides an optical table system that meets these specifications. Systems offered by other manufacturers did not meet the required size and spike in compliance near 180 Hz resulting in poor vibration isolation. Newport was the only source that offered a system that was broad band tuned and relatively resonance free. This is a notice of proposed contract action and NOT a request for competitive proposals.
