This Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS)/Request for Information (RFI) is issued for informational purposes and market research only; it does not constitute a solicitation. The Government will not reimburse any company or individual for any expenses associated with preparing/submitting information in response to this posting. The information provided may be used by the Government in developing its acquisition strategy, statement of work/statement of objectives, and performance specifications. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained within their response as instructed later in this posting. The United States (US) Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR & SOF) Directorate, Battlefield Airmen (BA) Program Office (AFLCMC/WISN) is conducting market research to identify possible sources capable of providing a Parachute Emergency Procedures (EP) Simulator. GA requires the ability to modernize its EP training capability. The EP simulator will enhance training while increasing safety prior to parachute training events. This would reduce chance of injury or death during training & missions. The simulator will provide a structured virtual training event that will increase the parachutist’s situational awareness during time of incident, while allowing parachutist to think through the problem. GA personnel (Combat Rescue Officer (CRO), Pararescuemen (PJ), and Survival, Escape, Resistance, Evasion (SERE)) will use the virtual reality EP simulator to enhance canopy control, canopy malfunctions recognition and response, emergency procedures, increase situational awareness, identify decision altitudes, practice navigation, collision avoidance, and group operations. The EP simulator is not intended as a replacement for any currently fielded GA system, but rather to fill a void in current parachuting EP training requirements.
